Wayne Rooney reportedly compared Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes after coming up against the Portuguese ace this week.
Rooney’s Derby County side were beaten 3-0 by his former club on Thursday, with Fernandes one of United’s best players on the night.
The Red Devils have yet to lose with Fernandes in the side since his £47million move from Sporting Lisbon in January, and Rams skipper Rooney was impressed by what he saw at Pride Park.
So much so, that United’s all-time top scorer reportedly told pals Fernandes reminded him of his former teammate Scholes, the legendary midfielder of the Sir Alex Ferguson era who was one of the finest players of his generation.
“Wayne loved being back on the pitch against United,” said a source quoted by The Sun .
“He loves the club. He told the players they were a very, very good team and that they will only get better now Fernandes has signed for them.
“Wayne thought it was hard to get close to him at times and his performance reminded him of the way Paul Scholes played.”
The source added: “Some of the players told him they are really excited Bruno is there.
“They said he has brought a buzz back around the club.”
