After the Janta Curfew on March 22, the entire nation has been on lockdown as of March 23, 2020. With the rising numbers of confirmed affected COVID-19 cases, people are taking strict measures to keep themselves safe and healthy. The death toll has made a serious rise. People have been religiously practicing self-isolation and self-distancing.
Shockingly, the calculations of the number of ventilators or the designated centers versus the population of the country have a huge difference. I mean we also need to understand that no nation would be prepared for such a sudden massacre. However, the government has been really fast in providing asylum to those confirmed cases and treatment to the positive ones.
To this present fear of scarcity of medical facilities, Vir Das, comedian and actor made a Tweet that seemed insensitive and soon backfired. He posted:
Maybe when this is all done we can build the tallest ever statue of a ventilator.

Social media criticized his lack of gratitude and empathy. Let us take a look at this post:
Even during such crisis.. you can’t hide your hate & ideology.. you ppl are worse than politicians like Lalu.. at least we know why they do what they do.

Maybe when this is all done we will produce more doctors instead of comedians
— Musafir Hu Yaaro (@iamMusafir) March 23, 2020
Some people even took it up politically and blamed his extravagant upbringing:
The privileged rich chap should have become a doctor instead of low key so called comedian.

I agree with you, when I become a father, and when have a kids. I tell them to be a successful doctor. not a failed Comedian.

However, his followers responded in a positive way and agreed to him.
Here is the tweet:
Nope. They’ll be spending Rs 20,000 crore for a new house for Mr. PM, a power corridor and what not in New Delhi. Except ofcourse Hospitals! This country is doomed.

While another supported expressed in his Hindi style English:
No Corona Devi ka statue aur unhe roz bhog chadna chahiye. Nahi toh mata chadti rahegi

Well, I guess somebody stirred up a controversy and it has definitely worked fine. Well, we can only hope, Vir will take action and do something to not upset his fan base that might disappear in thin air very soon!
Vir Das has recently become a popular face on Netflix, with his back to back stand up comedy stunts. His humor is dark and usually follows the path of Russell Peters where they internationally criticize the loopholes of different ethnic groups around the world.
