Vinod Kumar Bansal was an Indian educationist and founder of Bansal Classes at Kota. He made Kota famous in his country for IIT-JEE entrance exam preparation. He died on 3 May 2021 of a heart attack after testing positive for Covid19.

In 1983, he met G.D. Agrawal of Mumbai, who suggested he start coaching students for IIT JEE, the entrance test for the Indian Institutes of Technology.

- He went to Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University. After completing his education, he worked in a chemical company JK Synthetics in Kota.
- His entire body became paralyzed in 1974, when Vinod was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, which left him physically impaired, and was predicted to shorten his lifespan.
- Kota has since then emerged as the coaching center in India, with nearly 150,000 students from across India enrolling in the 40 coaching institutes in Kota. In 2017, 39,000 of their students cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) and at least 48 of them were in top 100.
