As per media reports, around sixty female students of a college in Bhuj (Gujarat), were asked to remove their undergarments so that the authorities could check if the girls were menstruating. After an FIR was launched, the Principal of the college, the peon and the hostel rector were suspended.

This news has caused massive outrage on social media. People from all sects of the society and of all age groups have come together to condemn such a shameful and punishable act by the college authorities.

And this isn’t all. Swami Krushnaswarup Dasji of Swaminarayan Bhuj Mandir, the same sect that runs this institute, further exposed his sick mentality and said something that can never be accepted in an educated and civil society. It’s an old video but after this news, it was widely circulated on social media and Krushnaswarup Dasji can be heard saying that menstruating women who cook would be born as bitches.

“A menstruating woman who cooks food for her husband will certainly be reborn as ‘kutri’ (bitch),” he said.

“You can feel whatever you want but these rules have been outlined in the shastras,” he added.

These comments have triggered massive outrage on Twitter and people are demanding strong action against such discriminatory practices. Check out some of the tweets, here:

It’s 2020 and this type of mindset is very dangerous for our society. Our women are fighting for equal rights and this news has surely strengthed their stand. Such a regressive mindset and insensitive words must be condemned by and all.
