SRK winning hearts even at 53, while others play father roles

Jealous much? Shahrukh Khan is still being offered lead roles and romances leading ladies, while other 54 year olds are playing the role of dads and granddads. Not just that, his movies are breaking the box office collections, makes one realise that the audience cannot stop loving him.

Plus, jo dikhta hai wohi bikta hai. One look at SRK and you wouldn’t be thinking of numbers in terms of the time he spent on this earth. That much is guaranteed. He is one man who has the charm to woo any actress of any age with such passion that it does not look awkward.

So, then, let’s look at some of the actors who are his age, probably younger that are playing the role of fathers.

Actors from the same generation such as Gajraj Rao have already played the role of fathers in movies such as Badhaai ho to Ayushmaan Khurrana and the latest out of the box film, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavadhan, where he plays dad to Jitendra Kumar.

When asked in an interview if Gajraj Rao sees himself play the role of Shahrukh Khan’s father, Rao, 49, says he would rather prefer playing the role of SRK’s friend instead.

Our next dad has played father to the gorgeous Katrina Kaif in Baar Baar dekho. Ram Kapoor, now 46, belongs to the same generation as Shahrukh Khan. SRK, on the other hand, has played the lead love interest with Katrina Kaif in movies such as Jab tak hai jaan and Zero. You do the math.

The very serious looking dad with kind eyes Rajat Kapoor is next on our list. 2016 saw this versatile actor play the role of a father to two hunks – Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan in the movie Kapoor and sons. Though Kapoor makes an adorable father in all of the dad roles he takes up, we can’t help but mention that there is just a gap of five years between Shahrukh and Rajat.

We bet our bottom dollar that SRK, the world renowned actor, producer and a star world over wouldn’t ever do a role of a dad to youngsters such as Sidharth Malhotra or Varun Dhawan.

Next on the hot dad list is Ronit Roy. His transition from the small to the big screen has truly been remarkable. And he seems very grateful about this as he has no problems playing dad to a young boisterous Arjun Kapoor in the movie 2 States. The year was 2014, and Roy was 48 years old then. But did real justice to the role of strict, drunk, hot headed dad.

Gully Boy, the phenomenal movie released in 2019, saw Vijay Raaz, aged 55, playing dad to Ranveer Singh. Now there has been enough loud and clear demand from the fans of Bollywood to have both Ranveer Singh and Shahrukh Khan sharing the screen space, but do you really think they would ever come together as father and son?

It seems unlikely to us. But we never know, many another decade from now, Shahrukh Khan would have transitioned like Amitabh Bachchan did and we would see Ranveer and SRK on the big screen like we saw Big B and SRK in Mohobattein! Only time will tell.

Loved by all, Shahrukh Khan has been heard saying that it really shocks him that even after so many people love him as much as they do. When it comes to comments such as SRK is romancing women who are half his age, and some even young enough to play his daughter, well, haters gonna hate.

And it’s not just Shahrukh Khan, other Bollywood actors such as Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, (even Naseeruddin Shah with Vidya Balan in two movies Ishqiya and Dirty Picture) have also romanced a lot of young women on screen.

This is also true in Hollywood, a lot of talented women are simply rejected a role because of their age and much much younger actress is cast opposite a famous, wealthy and “wanted” hero.

This is not about age as much as it is about being popular and loved. So much so that people are not bored seeing SRK doing the age old romance with such sincerity and passion that the audiences want to see it again and again without boredom.

At the end of the day, doesn’t matter what’s said or done, it’s the choice of the fans that keep the actors where they are in this magical industry of Bollywood.
