Leading director SP Jananathan has passed away. He is 61 years old.
SP Jananathan is a leading director in the Tamil film industry. Vijay Sethupathi is currently directing the upcoming film ‘Laabam.’ Filming is over and finishing work is in full swing.

Director SB Jananathan was actively working on the final editing work of ‘Laabam.’ Last Thursday (March 11), he went home from editing work for lunch. His assistants have been visiting the house because he did not return to editing work for a long time. He was unconscious at home at the time.

He was immediately admitted to Apollo Hospital. Doctors admitted him to the intensive care unit and examined him. He was bleeding in his brain and was undergoing intensive treatment. He died this morning without responding to any treatment. The sudden demise of SP Jananathan has caused a great shock among the Tamil film industry.

SP Jananathan was born on May 7, 1959, in Thanjavur district. Desiring to be a director, he worked as an assistant director to P. Lenin, Bharathan, Vincent Selva, and Kathir. His first film, ‘Iyarkai.’ The film was critically acclaimed. Following that, SB Jananathan has directed the films ‘E’, ‘Peraanmai’ and ‘Porambokku Ennum Podhu Udaimai’.

It is worth mentioning that SP Jananathan wrote the lyrics for the movie ‘Boologam’ directed by Kalyan, who worked with him as an assistant director to go with these films. He never got married.
