Bollywood Debut and Work

Mr. Kaushal made his Bollywood debut with Sunshine Music Tours and Travels in 2016. In the same year, he also worked in the TV Mini-Series Official Chukyagiri. In 2017, he was part of the short film Love at First Sight.

Though he hails from a filmy background, he didn’t have a dreamy launch. He had revealed in an interview that his father had asked him and brother Vicky Kaushal not to expect a smooth journey in Bollywood. Sharing his struggle, he said, “Well, the struggle started with my father’s statement, ‘Because of my name, somebody might entertain you in their office and offer a cup of tea or coffee, but they will not give you a job. It’s your own hard work that will get you that.’That shattered our bubble. For a long time, I battled the thought that maybe I am not cut out to be an actor, because no matter where I went, I always faced rejection.I think it’s a process of self-growth, because you don’t have a Plan B. So, you tell yourself, ‘I don’t know what’s going to happen today, but tomorrow, I will’. Then there were lots of auditions and small jobs here and there. I would say that my struggle is pretty much what everyone goes through. No matter which job you do, you have to go through a particular grind, which helps you evolve. “

He worked so well in Gold that he was nominated in 25th Screen Awards in the Best Supporting Actor category.

While talking about the success of the film, he said, “Oh it’s surreal. I actually did not imagine such a response but it’s a great validation for an actor.”

Sunny also worked in V Mini-Series Official CEOgiri, which was a spin-off of the 2016 series Official Chukyagiri.
