Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has issued an update on Kevin De Bruyne’s fitness after the Belgian missed the defeat at Old Trafford.
De Bruyne was not in the squad as City lost 2-0 at rivals Manchester United after goals from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay.
De Bruyne picked up a shoulder injury during the Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa last week and appears to have not fully recovered.
But Guardiola is hopeful the former Chelsea man will be back soon with City back in action on Wednesday as they host Arsenal.
The boss said: ”Kevin de Bruyne is getting better, I don’t know when he will come back but he is getting better.
“He feels better but he doesn’t feel 100 per cent. And we don’t take risks.
“We have three important games in the Premier League, but of course the position that we have, Madrid [Champions League, March 17] and Newcastle [FA Cup, March 21] are the real important games for us.”
Even with De Bruyne, City dominated possession at Old Trafford though United utilised their pace on the counter-attack to keep the visitors under pressure.
And Guardiola had no complaints with the performance from his side despite the painful defeat.
He added: ”We played good, we missed a little in the final third but the second half was better and it was a good performance.
“We play the same way, tried the press and defend well and we did well.
“Our game is there, we played really good in terms of coming here.
