Paul Pogba intervenes in Ed Woodward and Mino Raiola row at Man Utd over future

Paul Pogba made a personal plea to his agent Mino Raiola over his relationship with Manchester United chief Ed Woodward.

The two had seen tensions boil over in recent times, with the controversial agent making frequent remarks to the media.

One involved a bizarre spat with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while also insisting that he would never send any of his clients to Old Trafford in the future.

It has led to the club and Raiola locked in a frosty situation, with Pogba in the middle.

Strong rumours throughout the season had indicated that the France international was ready to ditch United in the summer for either Juventus or Real Madrid.

But recently, there have been small breakthroughs over a new contract for the 27-year-old.

His current deal expires in the summer of 2021, though there is an option to extend it by another year.

Talks over new terms looked impossible but the Mirror report that Pogba intervened in the ongoing row to tell his agent to get negotiating.

It now appears possible that the ex-Juve ace could tie himself down to United in a remarkable U-turn.

Pogba reportedly told his representative to be less confrontational in his comments after rows emerged with several United figures.

Gary Neville called Raiola out for being ‘a leech’, to which he replied that the former Red Devils right-back was a ‘big know-how’ and ‘can go screw himself’.

Regardless, Solskjaer would be keen to keep Pogba at the club as he plots a way to the top of the Premier League table.

With the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in the winter transfer market, pairing the two up could prove a masterstroke.

The midfielder has been ruled out for most of the season due to an ankle injury and had been in recovery from surgery to fix the problem.

However, he is back fit now and has only been kept out of the first-team due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis gripping the nation.
