NXT Champion Adam Cole has no hard feelings about WWE not booking him against WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Universal Champion Bray Wyatt at Survivor Series. The legendary Pay-Per-View show has recently started to book various Champion vs Champion matches in recent years and followed the same formula in November.

So I’m glad that I got to defend the championship, it was really cool to be able to say I defended my NXT Championship at Survivor Series so I wouldn’t have it any other way

However, Cole never got to face Lesnar and Wyatt in what had all the tools to become an absolute classic.

WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative Triple H previously claimed that the bout never took place because the company opted to continue the feud between the WWE Champion and Rey Mysterio and so booked a match against each other instead, while the Universal Champion faced Daniel Bryan.

Cole has no regrets as he defeated British superstar Pete Dunne in an exciting bout that showcased NXT’s prestige in front of a different audience.

The 30-year-old grappler admits that a fight against Lesnar and Wyatt would have been extremely compelling but is glad with the way things turned out and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Cole told Express Sport while promoting NXT TakeOver: Portland: “To me there’s pluses and minuses to it.

“Of course I think for the fans and for testing myself it would be great to get in there with a guy like Brock Lesnar and The Fiend in that Triple Threat Match, which I’m sure would have been absolutely insane.

“It really, really would have tested my will power, it would have tested my ability to take punishment cause I’m not even gonna beat around the bush [as] Brock Lesnar is an intense dude [and] The Fiend is an intense dude.

“And again, I’m sure that would have been really compelling. But at the same time I was really happy that NXT got to showcase what NXT is.

“And to me, NXT is the best, most competitive bell-to-bell wrestling on the planet right now.

“So to really showcase what the NXT Championship is all about, getting to go in there with a guy like Pete Dunne and just show the world again this great back-and-forth action of what NXT is all about, I feel like that highlighted NXT in the best way that it could.
