Manchester United are keen to sign Atletico Madrid outcast Thomas Lemar this summer for two reasons, according to ESPN. The Red Devils are said to be keen on launching a bid for the Frenchman during the summer transfer window.
United are starting their summer business early, and have already been linked with a host of names.
As well as Jack Grealish, James Maddison and Lautaro Martinez, they are now being linked with Lemar of Atletico.
The French winger signed for Diego Simeone’s side in 2018 for £58million, having been heavily linked with Arsenal.
Since then, however, he has failed to provide a return on that sizeable transfer fee.

This season, he has started just nine La Liga games, and has failed to score or register an assist in any game in all competitions.
From 67 games in all competitions for Atletico, he has scored just three times and provided six assists.
For Monaco, he was much more lively, and scored 22 with 33 assists in 127 games.
And United are reportedly looking at making him their next big-name signing after spending £46.6m on Bruno Fernandes.

According to ESPN, United like the look of Lemar for two reasons – his creativity and the fact he is left-footed.
United are crying out for more creativity going forward, and missed out on signing top transfer target Erling Braut Haaland during the January window.
They are expected to bring in a striker during the summer window, with current loan star Odion Ighalo looking likely to join.
But they still need some reinforcements on the wings, with youngster Daniel James having scored just once since August 2019.

And United seemingly believe that Lemar could be the answer to their problems.
Red Devils officials apparently met with the French winger’s agents last week in an attempt to thrash out the early details of a deal.
The same ESPN report claims he wants to leave La Liga because he doesn’t fit in with the league’s style of play.
One stumbling block however could be the fact he still has a long time remaining on his current contract, which expires at the end of June 2023.
