Man Utd could pursue Moussa Dembele, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland transfers

Manchester United spent almost £150m last summer and they might be forced to do so again with the club at risk of missing out on an elusive Champions League spot.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are desperate to return to Europe’s premier competition having missed out by five points last season.

Club chiefs are likely to sanction another big spend as they continue to show faith in their former striker, and Starsport have taken a look at three of the most likely candidates.

The list includes a striker, a winger and an attacking midfielder – with United ready to poach some of the finest talent on the continent in their quest to restore former glories.

Moussa Dembele

Former Fulham striker Dembele joined Lyon in 2018 after firing Celtic to back-to-back domestic trebles.

The 23-year-old has scored 38 goals in 79 fixtures since his £19.7m move, alerting European giants of his progress.

As well as United, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are said to be keen on securing his services and £65m could be enough to tempt Lyon into a sale.

Although January interest was snubbed by the Ligue 1 outfit, Dembele is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League which could make if difficult for them to keep hold of the hotshot.

Jack Grealish

Aston Villa talisman Grealish will have no desire to leave his boyhood club just yet if they should stay in the Premier League, but relegation could force him into a move.

The 24-year-old is yet to receive his first England call up and dropping back down to the Championship won’t do him any favours.

Coupled with that, Villa will need all the financial help they can get having spent over £140m since winning the play-off final in 2019.

United could subsequently make an offer that Dean Smith can’t refuse for the dynamic midfielder, who would give Solskjaer’s side something different in the middle of the park.

Erling Haaland

Haaland may have only joined Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg last month but a clever clause in his contract could force them to sell up in the summer.

The 19-year-old has scored eight goals in his first four appearances with an average of 22 minutes passing before he finds the back of the net.

His £17.1m fee already looks to be a bargain, but the Bundesliga challengers will have no choice but to sell if a bid of £63m is made in the summer.

The Norwegian’s connection to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could then play into United’s favour, with the former Cardiff boss handing him his debut at Molde.
