The British and Irish Lions are in talks with the Barbarians, Japan and New Zealand Maori about a warm-up match before next year’s tour of South Africa.
Warren Gatland is keen for the money-spinning match to go ahead to help prepare his squad for the series with the Springboks.
Such a fixture could generate around £5milion and Gatland revealed that it is set to be played at a venue in the UK.

‘The Lions are planning a warm-up game somewhere in either London, Wales or Edinburgh,’ Gatland told Kyodo News.
‘There are two or three parties we are talking to, the Barbarians, New Zealand Maori and Japan.’
However it has been reported that Twickenham is not a potential venue because of a clash with the Premiership final.
