Ranveer Singh is gearing up for the release of his film ’83 based on India’s victory in the Cricket World Cup in 1983. The Padmaavat actor has already mesmerized us with his Kapil Dev look from the film, and now, he is dropping the posters to introduce the entire cast of the film.
So, let’s take a look at the entire cast along with a brief of the real characters they are playing.
1- Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar
Tahir has earlier impressed us with his phenomenal work in films like Mardaani, Chhichhore, and Force 2. And now, he is all set to play a very crucial role in film ’83 and that is of Sunil Gavaskar.
2. Jiiva as Krishnamachari Srikkanth
Tamil actor Jiiva will be making his Bollywood debut with ’83 as he will portray former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth.
3. Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath
Actor and model Saqib Saleem will essay the role of cricketer Mohinder Amarnath. Saqib has earlier worked in films like Race 3, Dishoom, Bombay Talkies and others.
4. Addinath Kothare as Dilip Vengsarkar
Popular Marathi actor and director Addinath Kothare will essay Dilip Vengsarkar aka Colonel’s role. He was a key player in the Indian batting line up in the late 70s and early 80s.
5. Ammy Virk as Balwinder Singh Sandhu
Ammy Virk, the singer of popular Punjabi song ‘Qismat’ will be making his big Bollywood debut in the film as he will portray Balwinder Singh Sandhu.
6. Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani
Chances are high that you already know Sahil Khattar. He is a popular YouTuber, RJ, TV Host and an actor. He has hosted TV shows like Dance India Dance and India’s Got Talent. He is also a sports enthusiast and has hosted sports events like Russia World Cup 2018. And now, he will be playing Syed Kirmani in the upcoming film 83.
7. Harrdy Sandhu as Madan Lal
Singer and actor Harrdy Sandhu will be living his dream of becoming a cricketer via film ’83 as he will be seen portraying Madan Lal. Hardy’s only dream was to become a cricketer. He played as a fast bowler for over a decade before giving up sports due to a fatal injury. Sandhu then made a successful career in the entertainment industry.
8. Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma
Do you remember ‘Bunty’ of Sacred Games? Well, he will next be seen as Yashpal Sharma in ’83. Jatin Sarna is a Bollywood actor and theatre artist. He has also worked in Sonchiriya and Darbar.
9. Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil
Former cricketer Sandeep Patil who played the World Cup 1983 with broken ribs will be portrayed by his own son Chirag Patil. Chirag had told a leading daily, “The ’83 World Cup win is considered a milestone in Indian history and to be a part of that team is a dream come true and playing my father, who is my hero, is just awesome.”
10. Dinker Sharma as Kirti Azad
Dinker Sharma, who was last seen in Netflix series Delhi Crime will be replicating Kirti Azad as an off-spinner.
11. Nishant Dahiya as Roger Binny
Nishant Dahiya will be playing Roger Binny, an all-rounder who was the highest wicket-keeper in 1983 World Cup.
12. Dhairya Karwa As Ravi Shastri
Actor Dhairya Karwa who is known for his role in Uri: The Surgical Strike will be portraying Ravi Shastri on-screen.
13. Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev
Last but not the least is Ranveer Singh who
is all set to win our hearts as Kapil Dev in the film.
