John Krasinski Would Love to a Reunion Episode of The Office

0

NBC’s The Office is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. Long since it’s been off the air, people still don’t shut up about workplace comedy, based on Ricky Gervais’ BBC series. It’s more beloved now than it was on the air, thanks to Netflix. People just can’t get enough of the comedy, even its lesser later years. In a world where a Friends reunion is happening, is a reunion for The Office possible? If there’s money on the table, of course.

Krasinski is Down

John Krasinski’s career has skyrocketed since The Office, especially behind the camera. The Quiet Place director has gone on to big things since the NBC season, but he’s still open to returning to the past and playing Jim Halpert. When Esquire asked the Jack Ryan star if he’d do an Office reunion, he replied, “I would absolutely love to do it.” It’s been off the air for seven years, but the interested has only increased from fans in a reunion.

Once a Jim, Always a Jim

Remember when John Krasinski was up for the role of Captain America? Many people responded, “You mean Jim, from The Office?” Those days are long gone. Krasinski knows he’ll be Jim in some eyes forever, but he’s already accomplished so much more outside of that role. Still, the show and experience was everything to him:

The Office was absolutely everything to me. I mean it is my beginning and my end. I’m pretty sure at the end of my career I’ll still be known for Jim. That was my first experience with Hollywood. It was the first creative family I’ve ever had. In many ways, they will always be the most important people in that most important experience in my career. So yeah, if they did a reunion, I would absolutely love to do it.”

It’s a great attitude to have. Some actors would scoff at revisiting the past, but clearly, Krasinski is secure enough with where he’s at today to happily smirk again as Jim Halpert.

Maybe a Reboot?

Another version of The Office seems inevitable one day. It can be done, and it probably will be done. Could lightning strike a third time? With the right cast and writers, why not? Considering the quality of the final seasons of NBC’s The Office, it’s not in bad taste to reboot it. Even Krainski told EW it was a good idea:

“I think we should reboot it. I think it’s hard obviously with everybody’s schedule to do an Office reboot, but I would so be down. Maybe we could do like a Christmas special or something. The British show did a Christmas special, which is like, ‘Where are they now?’ for one episode because I don’t know how we’ll get everybody together for 22 episodes.”

22 episodes with that cast sounds impossible now, but a Christmas special? Not out of the realm of possibility. What if it came from… the director of A Quiet Place? Krasinski didn’t express any interest in directing a reunion, but he never did get to go behind-the-camera on The Office.

Fans Would Go Nuts

Netflix’s most popular show is The Office. It beats all of their original content in the ratings. With over 130 million subscribers, a large chunk of them are watching or rewatching the NBC series. More people watched The Office than Friends on the streaming platform. Soon, Netflix will lose its most-watched show, just like Friends, as it heads to a new streaming service. NBC should send Netflix some flowers, though, ‘cause they’ve boosted the property’s popularity. All over the world now there are people that would not miss a reunion of The Office, if it ever does happen.
