Sushil Chandra is the 24th Election Commissioner of India. He is a 1980 batch IRS officer. He has held different posts in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
Sushil Chandra’s career
Chandra has also served as the chairperson of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). Under his leadership, CBDT launched “Operation Clean Money” in 2017 in a bid to curb illegal wealth and black money. Chandra was appointed Election Commissioner before the Lok Sabha elections on 14 February 2019.
