Last Tuesday, Jay Bouwmeester collapsed on the bench of the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and was taken to the hospital with a “cardiac episode.” One week later, he is resting at home and in good spirits.
The St. Louis Blues defenseman thanked his team’s and the Anaheim Ducks’ medical staffs, plus the first responders and doctors at UCI Medical Center.
“Our family has felt the support of the entire National Hockey League family and the city of St. Louis during this time. We have all been greatly comforted by your genuine concern,” Bouwmeester said in a statement. “On Sunday evening, I returned to St. Louis and I am on the road to recovery. My wife and daughters are forever grateful for everyone’s support and we will continue to have a positive outlook for our future.”
