When films are made , it always have those disclaimers that does not hurt anyone’s sentiments when related to any religion . But many a times things goes wrong .

The film Padmaavat , directed by the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was the most controversial film of the year . People even throw footwear on the director and there were many protests against the film . Even a bounty was even announced on Deepika Padukone’s head. The Rajputs called for a boycott. After many cuts and edits movie was released and got a big hit .
#2 My Name Is Khan

Just ahead of its release in 2010, the Karan Johar faced the protest of Shiv Sena and Shahrukh was humiliated because Pakistani players weren’t being selected for the IPL. Shah Rukh’s posters were defaced, his effigies burnt, and his patriotism was questioned. But at the end, when film was released it won all hearts .
# 3 Lipstick Under My Burkha

One of the controversial film , Lipstick Under My Burkha’ was out of the box film . Beginning with the CBFC’s refusal to certify the film owing to its sexual content and use of strong language, the Board also claimed that the film was female based Talking about their rights
Muslim leaders from Bhopal called for the movie’s boycott because it hurt religious sentiments of the community. Yet, upon finally receiving the certification, Lipstick Under My Burkha was well received and won numerous national and international awards.
#4 Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela

Yet aother Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s , Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela, faced multiple protests across the country ahead of its release. Cities like Indore, Rajkot, and Jalandhar protested against the film’s title and content. A petition was also filed against the film in the Delhi HC because the film’s content involving sex, violence and vulgarity ‘deeply hurt Hindu religious sentiments’
# 5 PK

Shiv Sena’s claim that it hurt religious sentiments of Hindus, to others detesting the Love Jihad sub-plot in the film, PK saw it all. However, regardless of all the controversies, PK won a lot of critical acclaim.
# 6 Dangal

The super-hit movie Dangal based on the Phogat sisters , wrestlers Geeta and Babita Phogat . The film reveals the hardwork and dedication of small town former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and how he made his children capable to stand on their feet. A part of the society had gone against Aamir Khan for his statement passed regarding “rising intolerance” in the country. He was being tagged as anti- national and netizens started a twitter trend as #LetsBoycottDangal . Even after so many hassles , the movie was a big hit.
