If cinema is the heart of India, music is its soul. While the actors portraying different roles take us to a new world each time we watch a movie, it’s the songs and the voices behind them that makes all the difference in the world. 

While there are brilliant actors in Bollywood, there are few gifted ones with multiple talents. Most of the actors have their trusted playback singers giving them the on-screen voice, making that song our favourite. 

But a few actors in the industry have broken out of this style to showcase their own talent when it comes to music. Being good at one thing is great, but what if you were brilliant in the other one too?

Bringing you a list of actors who can act, dance AND sing, proving nothing is impossible for them.

1- Amitabh Bachchan

Just like Bollywood starts with his name, this list has to begin with Amitabh Bachchan’s name as well. He is someone whose voice one can never be forgotten. One of Senior Bachchan’s first songs is a cult classic, ‘Rang Barse’. Just like his acting, he has given a range of songs that are unforgettable. Remember Rozana from ‘Nishabd’? A song that showed us a very different side of B-Big. But our all-time favourite is his pop video song ‘Ek Rahen Eer, Ek Rahen Beer’ that literally took India by a storm. Only if every man could have this incredible baritone! 

2- Farhan Akhtar

‘Meri Laundry ka Ek bill’ is a song that will never leave our memories. The credit for this classic creation goes to Farhan Akhtar. He is a talent hub! Be it acting, directing, singing, playing instruments, he can do it all man! His voice always makes us admire him even more. One song by him that every person must hear is a wonderful composition by Farhan and Big B from ‘Wazir’ named ‘Yaari’. 

3- Shah Rukh Khan

Not just the Baadshah of Bollywood, this man is a real king in all senses. He rules the screen, he rules millions of heart, has one of the biggest fan following and boy he can even sing. Remember the popular track ‘Apun Bola’ from Josh, it was sung by none other than SRK. And how can we ever forget the ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan Poem’, he is the best B-town will ever have!

4- Shraddha Kapoor

Known to have one of the most melodious voices among the actor-singer gang is Shraddha. She made her Bollywood debut with ‘Aashiqui 2’, where she played the role of a singer. However, it was her song in ‘Teri Galliyan’ in Ek Villain, which revealed what a gifted singer she is. She then went on to sing in quite a few of her films including ‘Haider’ and ‘Rock On 2’. Not afraid to step outside the studio as well, Shraddha has crooned at a few shows and promotional events.

5- Alia Bhatt

Not only has she proved that she can kill it on-screen with her exceptional acting performance, but she can also impress every soul with her voice. Alia did her singing debut with Oscar-winning musician, A.R Rahman, in Highway. Well, what else could an actor-singer ever demand for? This was that one song that made it to everyone’s playlist! Beautiful Alia has a wonderful voice that touches your soul, if she ever thinks about changing her profession, she just knows what she can do!

6- Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra is one of actresses who has made big in everything she tried her hands on. Be it Bollywood, Hollywood or singing, she has proved that she can do anything like a pro. Not just one, she has released her three super-hit singles. As far as her Bollywood song is concerned, she sand for her biopic Mary Kom and title song in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.

7- Salman Khan

Salman Khan has spent many years in Bollywood before he threw his hat in the ring of singing. 
With the duet, ‘Hangover’ that he sang with Shreya Ghosal for the film Kick Khan proved he can be more than just a 1.74m macho walking to destroy everything in his path. And then he created a buzz for his new track ‘Main Hoon hero’. After getting accolades for his singing Salman sang his own versions for his sports drama ‘Sultan’ and won many hearts.

8- Hrithik Roshan

Also known as the Greek God, Hrithik Roshan is famous for his killing looks. He is one of the talented artists in the Hindi film industry. He has proved that he is a great dancer too. The actor who has been voted the most handsome man in the world has quite a few hit chartbusters to his name. The actor made his debut as a singer in the movie Kites that featured Hrithik as the main lead. He sang the Senorita song from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. A Greek God who can sing; some people have all the luck!

9- Shruti Hassan

Now an established actor, Shruti actually began her career as a music director in father, Kamal Haasan’s production ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’. Her singing has got her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback singer – Tamil and nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer – Telugu.

10- Aamir Khan

Mr. Perfection isn’t just a great actor, but a lot more than that. From producing some brilliant films to rocking it even in singing, he is a true blue star!  Whatever he touches turns to gold. ‘Aati Kya Khandala’ in ‘Ghulam’ and ‘Bum Bum Bole’ in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ are proof this man can do it all and do it with excellence.

11- Abhay Deol

Abhay made his singing debut with Senorita(Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, 2011). He sang the song along with Farhan Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan.

12- Madhuri Dixit Nene

Like her movies the evergreen actress Madhuri Dixit chose debut song very carefully. She started her singing career from the movie Devdas by joining Pt. Birju Maharaj and Kavita Krishnamurthy for the song Kaahe Chhed Mohe. She proved that she is not just a talented dancer but also an effortless singer. The “Dhak Dhak” girl also sang ‘Rangi Saari Gulaabi’ in the movie Gulaabi Gang.

13- Ajay Devgn

Ajay used his baritone voice in Shivaay’s soundtrack. FYI, the actor had previously lent his voice for a line in the title track of Bol Bachchan as well. Gosh! Actor-stuntman-producer-director-model-singer… What next?

14- Juhi Chawla

Very few people know that Juhi is a trained classical singer, but she never considered taking singing as her profession. The actress made her singing debut with the song Chalo Jaane Do (Bhoothnath, 2008). She also sung Punjabi songs Nanhi Si Gudiya and Preeto for movie Sukhmani- Hope for Life. Well, it seems that Juhi is all set to start her second innings as a singer.

15- Arjun Kapoor

Arjun Kapoor is one of the few Bollywood actors who won’t shy away from trying something new. He has recorded a version of the popular Marathi song, ‘Hil pori hila.’ 

16- Riteish Deshmukh

Riteish Deshmukh puts you into the festive mood by his song “Thank God Bappa”from his movie “Banjo” starring Riteish and Nargis Fakhri. Riteish has shown us his acting skills with the role portrayals of humorous and villainous characters. And now his singing skills will surely win the hearts of people.

17- Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek also tried to step into the shoes of Big B, but failed. The actor sung several songs, like Mera Mahi Bada Sohna (Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, 2000), Right Here Right Now (Bluffmaster, 2005), Thayn Thayn (Dum Maaro Dum, 2011), etc. But, none of the songs brought any accolade for him.

18- Sanjay Dutt

The uniqueness of Sanju’s voice has always caught the attention of music composers. Aye Shivani (Khoobsurat, 1999), M Bole To (Munnabhai MBBS, 2003) and Samjho Ho Hi Gaya (Lage Raho Munnabhai, 2006) are some of the songs that still bring us in the mood of masti.Well, I think, it’s not wrong if we call him Music bhai.

19- Akshay Kumar

When all three Khans have proved their singing skills, how can our action hero Akki can lag behind? Some of the songs sung by Akshay Kumar are Kaun Main Haan Tum (Ajnabee, 2001), Singh is King (Singh is King, 2008) and Rowdy Mix (Rowdy Rathore, 2012).

20- Sonakshi Sinha

She surely doesn’t shy away from trying new things. Sonakshi may have sung just a line in ‘Let’s Celebrate’ from the film, ‘Tevar’ but she went on to make her official singing debut with the single ‘Aaj Mood Ishqholic Hai’ in 2015 in collaboration with the Meet Brothers. Since then, the actor has also sung, ‘Rajh Rajh me’ from ‘Akira’ and ‘Move your Lakh from her film, ‘Noor’.
